Daily quests (popularly nicknamed dailies) are repeatable quests that can be acquired and completed once per day. These quests have significantly better rewards than other repeatable quests. Daily quests come in many different flavors, and many are for reputation, professions, seasonal events, and pet battles.

Reset times
The exact reset time for daily quests (that is, the time the next 'day' begins) is the same across the region (North America, Europe, Oceanic, etc..), selected to be early in the morning local time. These times are fixed, although local times may increase or decrease by an hour at two points in the year due to daylight savings time changes. The reset times for each region are:
- Europe (EU Region): 07:00:00 UTC
- North America & Oceania (US Region) : 15:00:00 UTC
- Asia: China, Korea & Taiwan (CN, KR & TW Regions): 23:00:00 UTC

History
Before the introduction of daily quests, the sole means of gaining high levels of standing with the various reputation factions was constantly grinding mobs, either for direct standing gains from kills, or from special items looted from mobs that could be turned in to a repeatable reputation quest giver. Daily quests were introduced during Burning Crusade in patch 2.1 for the Netherwing, Ogri'la, and Sha'tari Skyguard factions, with a system-enforced limit of 10 daily quests completed each day. The same few daily quests were available every day for the factions, and this quickly led to complaints about the repetitive, grindy nature.
In patch 2.3, Cooking daily quests were added and offered one quest from a pool of several in an attempt to ease the monotony. This concept was also used for the daily battleground, dungeon and Heroic dungeon quests added at the same time, and for future profession daily quests.

The daily limit was raised to 25 in patch 2.4, as the addition of the Shattered Sun Offensive series of daily quests alone provided up to 19 more quests to do each day. The Shattered Sun quests suffered from the same problem that the other faction daily quests did in that only the same 19 daily quests were available each and every day. The Argent Tournament, added during Wrath of the Lich King in patch 3.2, was after progressing far enough, the first daily quest hub to offer at least some variation from a couple of the quest givers.
Daily dungeon, Heroic dungeon, and battleground quests were all removed during patch 3.3, owing to the introduction of the Dungeon Finder tool and the Random Battleground system being implemented.
With the launch of Cataclysm in patch 4.0, Blizzard finally provided quest hubs on Tol Barad Peninsula that did not offer the same quests each and every day—the quest givers provided players six quests from a pool of 22. The same was true of the Firelands Invasion daily quest hubs added in patch 4.2, as players could complete up to 18 quests from a pool of 55 each day, with more quests available after gaining higher reputation standing.
The 25-daily limit was removed altogether in patch 5.0, as players complained about previous-expansion daily quests eating into the total. A vast amount of level-90 daily quests were added with the launch in Mists of Pandaria, providing players the opportunity to complete up to approximately 54 daily quests on Pandaria alone, after faction limitations had been satisfied, from a pool of roughly 278.
Legion introduced the World Quest system, which replaced daily quests on the expansion's new continent, the Broken Isles.

I have been at GIN for almost a decade now and during that time I have been provided the opportunity to help with various things in for the publication and company. This time, I get to spearhead a new project that hope helps us better connect with you, the reader. GIN is completely revamping their digital presence and working to modernize. Below are some of the major projects we are working on:
Modernizing The Website and Increasing Social Media Presence
We have heard your complaints and issues with the site as it stands now, especially on mobile. While I am not directly involved in the building or designing of the website, I have made sure to let our designer know about the need for mobile optimization. I am confident that in the near term, the site should work better on mobile devices. In addition, we are going to make strides to get our social media active and be more available to connect with all of you.

New Gaming Podcast
While the Game Industry News GIN Lounge is not a new podcast to the site, we have revamped it with new hosts and made it available on most podcasting apps through Podbean. The show is hosted by our Save State columnist Vincent Mahoney as well as myself and we have two shows up at the time of this article. Right now, we are waiting for Apple and Pandora to go through their review processes first. If you are a big podcast fan, then please check us out. The podcasts will start running on GiN next week too, so stay tuned for that.
New Twitch Channel
We are now on Twitch and will be uploading the first show with GiN writer Melissa Pierce. She has an amazing personality which you all should get to know as our Modern Gamer. On the streaming channel, she will be looking at interesting games and giving her take as well as her reaction to the action. It will be a ton of fun.
Search Game Industry News on Twitch and that should take you to the channel. And this will also be debuting as a GiN feature next week right here on the site and also on our YouTube channel. I hope you tune in for that!
Over the rest of the year there will be more GiN staff members on their playing games and available to hang out with you guys. As more things develop we will make news events out of them.
Looking Forward
I am excited to be able to tell you all about all of these changes and new projects because it gives me the best chance to engage with readers and other gamers. One thing the pandemic has shown me is that I feel better when I can hang out with people, even virtually. I hope that as we continue to redesign and roll out new content we can get your feedback along the way. You, the reader and soon to be listener and viewer, are what keeps us going day in and day out.
Stay safe and just keep taking things one day at a time!
